International Chameleon Day Campaign Wins Top Honors!

We are thrilled to share that our San Diego State University (SDSU) public relations capstone team has received the 2026 Bernays Mark of Excellence Award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) San Diego and Imperial Counties for its outstanding work on Wildlife Madagascar’s International Chameleon Day campaign!

Under the guidance of Dr. Kaye Sweetser, the eight-member team developed a creative campaign that included media outreach, social media content, a chameleon mascot, and educational toolkits for zoos, schools, and conservation organizations.

Their efforts resulted in a remarkable 226% increase in social media engagement, with Instagram shares soaring by 1,400%!

Cambell Kirk accepted the Mark of Excellence Award on behalf of the Wildlife Madagascar team, alongside Brigitte Morgan, who accepted the Mark of Merit Award for another SDSU capstone team.

Our heartfelt congratulations and thanks to Amanda Gonzalez, Mieke Turangan, Cameron Dale, MJ Destro, Madeline Hogenauer, Cambell Kirk, Roxi White, and Madison Wolden. Your creativity, dedication, and passion helped bring international attention to Madagascar’s extraordinary chameleons.
